Day 19Alderley Edge & Knutsford Circuit
The Circuit ministers in a range of contexts from small rural to large town and celebrates the life and witness of Over Peover Methodist Church as it ceases to meet in September 2017. As the Circuit reviews the Mission Statement after meeting each month for prayer in each church, we are clear that we need to be ‘Christ Centred and Spirit Led’. The pastoral needs of the members of Over Peover and all our churches continue to be our priority, whilst we explore the new opportunities available to us and face the challenges ahead.
We give thanks for the ministry of Rev Ben Clowes after ten years, as he begins ministry in the Nidd Valley Circuit and we welcome Rev Sue Swires and her husband Bill who come to be part of our Staff Team. We give thanks for the collaborative working across our Circuit and the relational teamwork of all our Staff and the Circuit Leadership Team. But, we particularly ask for your prayerful support of Sue and Bill as they adjust to their new context of ministry.
‘The Welcome Church’ is meeting many needs on the Longridge estate. This is one of the original Fresh Expressions, birthed in the mid 1990’s, with a Lay Pastor, Julie King, who is also training for presbyteral ministry now. This is an important part of our Circuit’s outreach, alongside other work in the Knutsford area with our foodbank ‘Hampers of Hope’, the Hope Centre meeting at the Council House each Monday, Friendship Café (for those with dementia and their carers), Youth Mission Higher in the Autumn and 4 ‘Open the Book’ teams in junior schools.
