“Make a Joyful Noise!”

Saturday 16th October 2010

Manchester Music Day

An exciting day conference based in and around Manchester Cathedral, is to take place on Saturday 16th October, from 9.30am ? 4.15pm. It will be entitled “Make a Joyful Noise!”, and it is essentially a multi-choice workshop day, designed to encourage and equip anyone who wants to see music flourish in their church worship, from whatever denomination. The aim is to celebrate the rich diversity of music for worship that is available, old and new, as well as exploring fresh approaches for mission in a changing and challenging world.

The event will include John Bell from the Iona Community, and well known as a speaker on ‘Thought for the Day’; Geraldine Latty, well known gospel singer; Manchester’s very own ‘Wellspring’ will also be present and involved, as will Chris Stokes, the Director of Music at Manchester Cathedral, Mat Hill from Audacious Church in Manchester, Anne Harrison from the Diocese of Durham leading workshops on Taize Music, and Andrew Maries, who is Worship and Music Consultant for the Diocese of Exeter. Bishop Chris Edmondson will also be leading one of the workshops along with Peter Gunstone, former Music and Worship Director at Lee Abbey, on the sometimes tricky area of the relationships between clergy and organists/music group leaders.

The conference is open to Clergy, Readers and Lay Preachers, Lay Leaders of Worship including any ?non musician?, and anyone who enjoys or who is involved in music making.
