Option 2: Introduction to the Historical Books of the Old Testament
Through this course, you will have the opportunity to focus on the 12 books of the Bible known as the Historical Books. This course will look at over 600 years of Israel’s history and the lessons that helped to prepare God’s people for the coming of Jesus the Messiah. You will meet some fascinating characters such as Joshua, Esther, Jeremiah, Ruth, and Ezra who will illuminate the story of God’s people from the occupation of Canaan through the rise and fall of the northern and southern kingdoms, and the return and rebuilding of Jerusalem in the Persian period.
Jonathan Dawson is the pastor at Ford’s Lane Evangelical Church in Bramhall. With many years of experience working, teaching and preaching in church and community, Jonathan is passionate about the Word of God and helping to make this relevant and accessible for everyone.
Option 3: Atonement Studies: Unpacking the Many Victories Jesus Achieved on the Cross.
Why did Jesus have to die on the cross, why couldn’t he just preach and ascend into heaven and avoid this horrible death? Do we only need to focus on Jesus taking away our guilt, or is reconciliation, defeating Satan, and so on, just as important? Jesus’ sacrifice is so important and the foundation of the Christian faith, and by exploring such questions, it can allow
us to connect more with God and the many victories he won for us. This will also enable us to worship the Lord Jesus with more appreciation, and discuss it with others with increased confidence.
