Manchester's Methodist Women In Britain Celebrate
At the Autumn 2011 Meeting of the Manchester and Stockport District’s Methodist in Women at Marple Methodist Church, the afternoon session took the form of a celebration of the launch of Methodist Women In Britain.
The celebration began with the song, “Let us Celebrate” and then a dance on Celebration led by Jo Richards and her friends. The speaker was the Helen Kim Scholar, Rachel Coates, who spoke about her reflections on her visit to the World Federation Conference in South Africa.
Her enthusiasm at being involved with the conference as a delegate was Infectious. Rachel was a delight to hear and she really conveyed her joy at being involved within the organisation. We then sang, “For everyone born a place at the table” which was followed by a demonstration of flower arranging with a spiritual content by Jenny Went. The launch event finished with Mabel Nyazika teaching us a sung blessing from Ghana. We all processed out singing the blessing and greeting each other with a hand shake. Afterwards the event concluded with the cutting of a celebration cake and a drink. At the event was an exhibition of photographs of various MWiB/Network events over the years.
