Chorlton Walking Group

Overview:

Patch gets a helping handThe walking group set up in Chorlton in the spring has enjoyed walks of 5/6 miles at Lyme Park, the Middlewood Way, Rivington, Delamere Forest and Wolfscotedale.

The walk at Rivington in May proved to be somewhat more ‘exciting’ than expected when one of the walkers had a fall. 999 was called and as well as 2 ambulances, the Bolton Mountain Rescue and Air Ambulance north-west came to the rescue.

With an audience of other people also walking on the track, the injured party was taken to Chorley Hospital (by ambulance and not in the helicopter) where they were duly bandaged up. Meanwhile, the excitement over, the rest of the group completed the walk without further incident.

The group and about building community and relationships and is a real mission opportunity. It has drawn in people would wouldn’t probably come to a church service and it’s amazing the conversations one can have whilst walking together.
