As We Worship

Messy Church

Overview:

Started in January 2009 this takes place on the first Sunday of every month from 4-6 pm. A theme is chosen each month (e.g. Christmas, Easter, Communion, Parable, Old Testament story) and then the first 45 minutes to 1 hour of the time is taken up with crafts, activities and games relating to the theme. There are individual crafts and also one group piece of work which is subsequently displayed in the church for several months. The worship continues in the sanctuary for approximately 20-30 minutes with a story and song time aimed at all ages. We then move back to the church hall for a picnic tea that everyone brings.

Numbers have been consistent over the time Messy Church has been running with an average of 58 people attending each time, reaching a maximum of over 80. The service is open to all and an unexpected benefit has been the number of Dads attending regularly. Some people who started by attending Messy Church have become regulars at the Sunday morning services too. The wider church congregation help enormously by saving sweet wrappers, yoghurt pots, scraps of material and all manner of items which are recycled into our activities.

You are very welcome to visit us!
