Just Drop In

Overview

Macclesfield ‘Just Drop In Youth Info, Advice & Counselling’ is a voluntary registered charity, established by Churches Together in Macclesfield as their Millennium Project, and plays a huge role in assisting LSP’s plans. The venue is a multi-agency youth hub situated in the town centre and they target twelve to twenty five year olds, which constitutes sixteen percent of the community (www.statistics.gov.co.uk, 2001) however the main clientele are between fourteen and nineteen. The charity’s remit is threefold; they signpost people to specialist services, provide ongoing support to the clients and provide a specialist counselling service. JDI provides a cyber café where clients can congregate and organizes specific workshops in other available premises such as Macclesfield Methodist Church. The young people come from diverse backgrounds; with various issues typically homelessness, money problems, careers advice, relationship issues, bullying, anxiety, substance abuse and school exclusion, they frequently require emotional support or help with crisis situations. All services provided are on a 'needs led' basis with a huge degree of flexibility.
