District Safeguarding Group

We are often challenged to explain how, or even why, safeguarding should be integral to our church lives. Well, the answer is simple.

The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission, to value every human being as part of God’s creation and to be a place where the love of God is alive, helping us to become more than we could hope for or expect to be.

And we are called to be faithful in our discipleship, through following Jesus, hearing and obeying his words and putting them into practice. Therefore making our churches safe spaces for all to grow in Christ – and complying with safeguarding policies, procedures and training is part of faithful discipleship.

Dear Lord, appoint us to be your disciples wherever and whenever you send us, confident that at all times you are with us. Help us to recognise and respond to the immensity of human need all around us and grant that by our works and actions we can proclaim Your greatness and wonderful love for each and every one of us.
